Rihanna Shines On New Single "Diamonds" [Review]

Ever since Rihanna entered the realm of the pop world, she has successfully managed to reinvent herself, musically and image-wise. Although her critics beg to differ and point out that Rihanna's image overshadow's her music and voice, nobody can deny Rihanna's knack for cranking out great pop songs. When she wants to, she can churn out a good pop song that sounds fresh ("Umbrella", "Rude Boy", "What's My Name") or a generic tune ("Where Have You Been", "Only Girl (In The World)", "We Found Love"), which undoubtedly still sounds better than most songs mutating the charts.

When she was not giving you camaraderie and frienship on "Umbrella", Rihanna threw you shades of Illuminati princess on "Russian Roulette" and 80's hopeless romantic-meets-dance on "We Found Love". Now, the Princess of the Billboard Hot 100 has decided to leave the "nah nah nah's" back in Ester Dean's pocketbook and hired Sia to write lyrics which has substance (excuse the pun) and Stargate and Benny Blanco for production duties.

"Diamonds" is Rihanna shining during her finest moment, buttering her haunting tone with Sia's enunciation. Interesting enough, Rihanna displays a vocal growth that many expected her not to have, especially when she prepares herself to lower her vulnerability closer to the song's chorus, "So shine bright, tonight you and I". It's almost as if she helplessly convinces her partner that they're a match made in heaven, just like this song is to our ears.

Shockingly enough, the lyrical maturity and melody seems to be the true star of the song. Rihanna has opted to focus on a theme that's able to brighten us, or leave us feeling like a diamond in the rough. This song was clearly written by Sia and will become one of her biggest written singles to date.

Prepare to roll up one, sit back, and watch Rihanna continue her reign as Billboard's Princess of the Billboard Hot 100.

Rating: 4 shiny diamond blunts

Rihanna Set To Perform On American Idol Finale

Rihanna
After wowing us with the "Where Have You Been" music video, Rihanna got a bit cocky and ended up embarrasing herself on the 'Saturday Night Live' stage where she decided to pat de cake for the audience, only to put on a performance of all sorts of comic.

Rihanna Dances For Eternal Life In "Where Have You Been"

Who would have thought that Rihanna would come for wigs like she did now? After forcing us to watch the millions of clips for "Where Have You Been", the Dave Meyers video premiered and appears to slide right into the folder labelled "Rihanna's Best Videos".

Rihanna starts the video off by emegring from the depths of the amazonian swamp. She then gets her Prince of Persia swag on and appears to wear a veil, similar to the one on the single's cover. The ritual begins and Rihanna comes for wigs!

Drake's "Take Care" Video Set To Debut...

Take Care Music Video Still (Drake ft. Rihanna)
Drake and Rihanna really hit a home run with there single “Take Care” which is shaping up to be a huge hit. The sentimental song will undoubtedly remain one of the best songs of 2012 and their careers, just like what “No Air” is to Jordin Sparks’ and Chris Brown’s (I still get my breath knocked out when I play that song. It’s that amazing!).

Rihanna Ooozes In Armani Jeans

Chart princess Rihanna sizzles in the new ad for Emporio Armani Jeans, frolicking on a couch in one picture while looking allure in another.  She is really reminiscing about her days as an “innocent” island gyal that was present during her ‘A Girl Like Me’ era. You can look below for another picture of my baby after the jump. She was hustling for those ad campaigns since that era and is now notorious for being on almost every magazine cover! Go Ri!

Rihanna Selects "Talk That Talk" As Next Single

Rihanna has put the future of her latest appalling album, ‘Talk That Talk’, in the hands of her fellow navy. After receiving and counting all the votes via Facebook and Twitter, Rihanna announced that the title track “Talk That Talk” would be released.

Sitting in a squatting position, the young chart-topper is seen wearing a denim garb in the black-and-white cover. Her curly hairstyle is held together thanks to a bandana that she probably stole from a bandit, and the cigarette that was seen on the “You Da One” cover is replaced with a toothpick to deviate from any social taboo.

Rihanna Brings Out Dr. Luke For "You Da One"

After experiencing a record-breaking #1 single with “We Found Love” Rihanna is ready to unleash another smash to the world with “You Da One”.

Produced by super producer Dr. Luke, the Ester Dean-penned track finds Rihanna benevolently putting her lover on a pedestal and expressing how he sends her into a love spiral. It’s reminiscent of those blissful memories of being with that special person that sweeps you off your feet.

Listen To Snippets Of Rihanna's "Talk That Talk"

The thought of being able to buy Rihanna’s “Talk That Talk” in a few days time gives me enough reason to have a seizure from this frivolous shaking and crying!

Well, let the shaking and crying begin because snippets of the album have leaked…and by what I’m hearing, I’m sure there’ll be a trail of tattered wigs left on the floor when people hear this.

The album features 11 tracks which all include her sassiness, fragileness, and aggressiveness that will keep us entertained for quite some time. Based on snippets alone, I can tell that it shits all over “Loud”. Keep a look out for her second single, “You Da One”, which gets released to radio 11 November and to iTunes 13 November.

The xx Start Work on New Album
Pitchfork has just reported one of the best news articles of the year! 2010’s breakthrough act and Mercury Music Prize-winning stars The xx are currently recording their second album as I type this post.

To accompany the recording process of this album, a new blog has been created that will be used to post “inspirations + pictures + favourite songs”. This is such a clever way to gather even more fans after they experience the brilliance of their self-titled debut album.

Behind The Scenes: Rihanna Chooses "Talk That Talk" Cover

A new video has surfaced, depicting a very confident Rihanna, who’s arguing about which cover of her latest album, “Talk That Talk”, should be used.

It’s a really interesting video and shows off Rihanna’s strong personality. Riri also lets us know that she thinks her standard cover for the album is iconic as it shows her in a different light.

I couldn't agree more!

Drake Invites Andre 3000, Rihanna, And Nicki Minaj To Join Him On "Take Care"

Take Care
Seems like Drake is using all the star power he can get to make “Take Care” sell!

Initially wanting to keep the features to a minimum, The ‘Headlines’ star gave into Lil Wayne’s wishes and plagued his albums with guest stars. Don’t worry, these people have some serious star power and I’m betting that most of them will be hit singles.

Rihanna Reveals "Talk That Talk" Album Covers

Rihanna Talk That Talk album cover regular
Rihanna continues to show the world her cocky attitude on her latest album cover of Talk That Talk, due November 21. The album is preceded by the lead single “We Found Love” which has been smashing records around the globe (I don’t think it deserves to, but whatever).

The pop vixen flaunts her sexiness as she licks her lips while holding her five-head in the palm of the hand that feeds us. The deluxe edition features the sultress in total shock, with smoke pouring out of her mouth. I bet she’s in shock from all of the success she’s receiving!

Rihanna Makes Chart History

It looks like Rihanna haters are about to swallow their own words up after hearing about this. I thought that she’s using Beyonce’s strategy of overexposing herself. Luckily for her, we don’t mind since the brunette Betty makes great pop tunes, unlike her lesser.

Rihanna's Cover For 'We Found Love' Is Amazing

That Rihanna reign just won’t let up!

The singer confirmed that her new single ‘We Found Love’ featuring Calvin Harris will premiere tomorrow (22 September). The album promo started pretty strongly, as the singer used facebook as a promotional tool by launching a campaign which allows fans to unlock missions that reveal information regarding this era.

Sporting a vintage 80’s post-grudge image, the singer appears in a blurry black-and-white cover similar to her classic Rated R era. Can you guys see the look of despair plastered on her face? That’s because she feels bad for leaving your faves’ wigs to rust while she continues to heat up the charts!

The lyrics of ‘We Found Love’ can be read after the jump. Get ready to be slayed!
