It has been almost four years, which
in the pop world is ten year, since Chairlift has released an album. Better known for their single "Bruises", which was featured in an Ipod Nano commercial and gave them with a 2009 MTV Video Music Award nomination for "Breakthrough Video", the duo is ready to release their sophomore album, "Something".
The duo, consisting of Caroline Polachek and Patrick Wimberly since Aaron Pfenning left to create a
solo career in Rewards, released a video to the song "Ghost
Tonight", which sees the stunning lady displaying her rich vocal talents
while Patrick takes the lead in playing his guitar. The dream-pop song is
really a stunning piece of work, layered in sheets of 80's pop music mixed with
a little synth-pop.
Their album “Something” is already gaining rave reviews, with Pitchfork giving the album an 8 out of 10, Music OMH a 4 out of 5, and Consequence of Sound a 3.5 out of 5. I'm hoping that people support this album because I am being slayed!
“Something” will be available on January 24, 2012. Make sure
to pick your copy up. You can also check their Free At Noon performance at World Cafe live over here.
