Bruno Mars rocks the 'Today' Show

The modern day Elvis Presley, Bruno Mars, proved that he is better than your faves once he graced the stage on the ‘Today’ show.

The King of pop radio rocked out to hits "Runaway Baby", “Just The Way You Are” and “The Lazy Song” from his debut album "Doo-Wops & Hooligans" at New York’s Rockefeller Plaza and showed more swagger than your favourite current “rap” star. This man surely knows how to put on a great performance. Now I understand why my mother loves him so damn much… (That’s enough clean information for now). That’s why he is selling millions and is here to stay!

Beyonce covers Sunday Times and speaks about her legacy

Looks like Beyonce is really promoting the hell out of this album. She currently performed at Glastonbury and will release her album, "4", tomorrow in the UK. She was also interviewed by the publication and speaks to them about her legacy.

"I feel that it's important that I start shaping my legacy and doing things that have a little more substance," Beyonce says. "I want people to think when they listen to my music. I want it to help them through their painful memories, their painful moments, their most happy moments. I want it to bring out that happiness."

We're still waiting on that iconic album! You can read the rest of the article over at The Daily Telegraph.

Enrique Iglesias wants you to be his "Dirty Dancer"

As if his music couldn’t become any more generic, Enrique Iglesias has premiered the video for his new RedOne-produced single “Dirty Dancer”, which is basically a rip-off of his previous single, “Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You)”, but only worse.

It’s basically just an HD-TV commercial with digitally-enhanced female strippers gyrating and sliding up and down a pole, with Usher and Lil Wayne making their appearance. Before anything can happen between the fierce vixen and Enrique, she rapidly disappears, only for Enrique to find out that he has run out of credit.

Moral of the story: There are just some things that money can’t buy, and that’s (digital) love...something that is easily accessible a corner away from you, with a discount for every session!

Drake has ‘Trust Issues’ to deal with on new track

Drake continues to release great songs, with the latest one being a song called ‘Trust Issues'. Produced by longtime collaborator Noah “40” Shebib and Adrian X, the song uses the hook of  DJ Khaled’s single “I’m On One”.

Consisting of an atmospheric beat with hard-hitting drum machine, the broody track tackles the trust issues Drake has with his women. The song is good, but compared to 'Marvins Room' and 'Dreams Money can buy', it is a little underwhelming. Luckily, the track will not appear on his upcoming sophomore album, "Take Care", which will be released on October 24, 2011.

Listen to the song below.

Katy Perry covers Fame, Politics and Body Image on Rolling Stone

It seems that Katy Perry is not only interested in flaunting her beautiful assets on the cover of Rolling Stone’s June issue. This time around, Katy is tackling issues, such as free health care (well, sort of).

The singer recently took Rolling Stone’s contributing editor Erik Hedegaard backstage at her California Dreams Tour for an interview, speaking about her ‘political awakening’.

"It just feels like the thing running our country is a bank, money," says Katy. "I know it sounds like an intense viewpoint, but I'm only slowly but surely getting the wool taken off my eyes. When I was a kid, I asked questions about my faith. Now I'm asking questions about the world."

She continues and points out America’s main priority, which we all know is fame: "I think we are largely in desperate need of revolutionary change in the way our mindset is. Our priority is fame, and people's wellness is way low. I saw this knowing full well that I'm a part of the problem. I'm playing the game, though I am trying to reroute. Anyway, not to get all politically divulging and introspective, but the fact that America doesn't have free health care drives me fucking absolutely crazy, and is so wrong."

Britney Spears gets dirty in "I Wanna Go" Music Video

Britney Spears has finally premiered the video for her third single, ‘I Wanna Go’, thus showing us that, although her dancing is not up to par, her personality can do wonders!

Starting the video off, a hardcore, Avril Lavigne-esque dressed Britney is bombarded with a bunch of questions at a press conference. It is not long before she loses it and responds to them:”F*ck you, F*ck you, F*ck you, You’re cool, And f*ck you. I’m out…”. She then walks out, molests a young fan, and flashes herself in public to get a cops attention. Luckily, he gets more than what he bargained for, and Britney leaves with his handcuffs.

The Holy Spearit then poses it up for a pap before losing it and breaking his camera. She’s then surrounded by a few after climbing on top of a taxi’s roof, and before you know it, lashes out to them with a mike, knocking each and every one of them down. Across the street is a marquee of a cinema besides her ‘Crossroads 2: Cross Harder’, thus making fun of her critically-panned (yet they praised her performance) film debut ‘Crossroads’.

After the paps get back up revealed to be terminators, their eyes are red and their faces are bursting with wires, thus referencing a scene in ‘Terminator 2: Judgement Day’. Out of nowhere, actor Guillermo Díaz arrives to save the day. While on the road, Guillermo shockingly gives himself a milk facial, which is obviously part of the song’s theme (masturbation) and adds to the hilarity of the video. She sees his chest sparkle and pulls his jacket open, revealing that he is also a cyborg. She wakes up from her daydream and Guillermo steps in to take her, turns around, and laughs with red eyes at the camera, thus referencing Michael Jackson’s iconic music video ‘Thriller’.

The video was nothing short of brilliant and is stamped with Britney’s personality. We’ve never seen the star so lively since her ‘Toxic’ days, and we hope that she continues to make satirical videos like these. It included many pop cultural references, such as her debut film ‘Crossroads’, ‘Half Baked’, and Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’. With all of her personality covering up her dancing flaws, there is a glimmer of hope left for the return of Ms Spears.

Frank Ocean releases "Novacane" MV, Confirms "Nostalgia, ULTRA" re-release

Outstanding new talent Frank Ocean recently premiered the first single, ‘Novacane’. The song will be included on his debut EP, “Nostalgia LITE”.

If you have not been living under a rock, then you would know that the song is also featured on his amazing and universally- acclaimed mixtape, “Nostalgia, ULTRA”. ‘Nostalgia, LITE’ will be the name of the re-release of his ‘Nostalgia, ULTRA’ mixtape. However, it will be missing a few tracks and no release date has been confirmed as of late.

Frank recently spoke to MTV about the re-release and confirmed that he is struggling to get clearance on some songs that the disc sampled. Artists which he has sampled include Coldplay, MGMT, the Eagles and Mr.  Hudson.

“The Eagles sample ['American Wedding'] has no chance in hell of being cleared,” he told MTV News. “Coldplay sample ['Strawberry Swing'], possibly. I hear ‘possibly’ from people who say they know. MGMT, those guys seem chill. I heard they heard the record ['Nature Feels'] and they liked it a lot, so hopefully that can go someway.”

You can watch the trippy and brilliant video of ‘Novacane’ below.

J. Cole announces "Cole World: The Sideline Story" and release date

To say that J. Cole’s debut album is one of the most anticipated albums of the year is an understatement.

The talented MC announced via Twitter that his album, titled “Cole World: The Sideline Story”, is slated for a September 27, 2011 release. This title will continue with the basketball-themed titles which were used for his previous mixtapes “The Warm Up” and “Friday Night Lights”. It's almost like Kanye West's college-themed albums, only this time a sport-theme is used.

The album will include production credits from the likes of No I.D., the incredible Danja, and Brian Kidd, along with a collaboration with Jay-Z. The first single, ‘Work Out’, which samples Kanye West’s “New Workout Plan” and Paula Abdul’s “Straight Up”, was released last week.

J. Cole has really been working hard and fans have been eagerly waiting upon his debut. Although his “buzz” single, “Who Dat”, failed to ignite the charts, I have a feeling that he will obtain high first-week sales.

Tinie Tempah and Wiz Khalifa teases with ‘Till I’m Gone’ MV preview

Tinie Tempah is ready to smash the charts again with his new single, ‘Till I’m Gone’, featuring radio’s favourite rapper, Wiz Khalifa. The UK native released a teaser of the video today.

The song will be included on the UK rapper’s U.S. album, ‘Disc-Overy’, which debuted at #21 on the Billboard 200. The song will become another hit if radio supports it and if Tinie gets the recognition and promotion that he deserves.

You can watch the clip of the video and look at the stills from the video set below.

‘Green Lantern’ lights up the Box Office

One of the most anticipated films to arrive this year, “Green Lantern”, has easily blasted its way to the top of the weekend’s box office, with $52.7 million. However, this makes it the lowest opening for a superhero movie, in comparison with “X-Men: First Class” ($55.1 million) and Thor” ($65.7 million).

The film has not been warmly embraced by critics, as the movie has scored a disappointing 26% on Rotten Tomatoes, while scoring 41% on Metacritic. The audience ratings, however, are higher with 61% of the people giving it a positive review on Rotten Tomatoes and 67% of them giving it a positive review on Metacritic.

The film cost $200 million to produce with an additional $100 million for promotional costs. I’m hoping that the film remains a success in the long run. You can watch the trailer after the jump.

Scary Movie 5 gets a release date

Get ready for another blockbuster horror comedy!

According to Ace Showbiz, The Weinstein Company has announced release dates for forthcoming films, one of which is ‘Scary Movie 5’ will hit cinemas in the U.S. on April 20, 2012. The film’s plot has not been revealed yet.

The horror comedy will be directed by David Zucker, with Jim Abrahams penning the screenplay, and will be competing against the horror thriller ‘House at the End of the Street’. ‘House’ will be released on the same day as ‘Scary Movie 5’ and stars Jennifer Lawrence portrayed as a teen girl who moves with her mom to a new town. They learn that their home is across the street from a house where a double murder took place. Things go downhill from there onwards, as the teen befriends the massacre’s surviving son (played by Max Thieriot).

Another movie that was given a release date is ‘Halloween 3D’, which is slated for a October 26, 2012 release. The horror thriller will be directed by Patrick Lussier and written by Todd Farmer. Just like ‘Scary Movie 5’, no details on the plot have been revealed.

I’m a horror movie junkie so I’m really excited to here about the plots. Horror movies have generally been dry, although I have seen Japanese horror movie trailers, which slays! Lets hope that America can redeem itself and create better horror movies with more originality and avoid horror movie clichés.

Britney Spears releases 'I Wanna Go' music video preview

Britney Spears is ready to take down the paparazzi in her new video for ‘I Wanna Go’, the third single off of her platinum-certified album, ‘Femme Fatale’.

It was previously rumoured that a hunky model would save the Princess of Pop; however, Godney has decided to take matters into her own hands and whips away the paparazzi in the new preview.

"I-I-I wanna go-o-o all the way-ay-ay... but not quite yet," tweeted “Britney” along with the preview. In order to make the video eligible for the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, the singer will release the video on Wednesday, June 22, two days before the deadline on June 24.

‘I Wanna Go’ is undoubtedly one of the best songs on the album. With its Hi-NRG, techno synths and heavy bassline, the dance-pop number consists of processed vocals and an extremely catchy whistle melody, which will be stuck in your head for weeks. The song also finds the singer expressing her wishes to go all the way with her partner. It’s definitely a Britney song, meaning its better than most of the stuff you hear on the radio. The song has already reached #1 in South Korea and will surely become another hit for her.

You can watch the trailer after the jump as well as footage of the singer performing the song on her ‘Femme Fatale’ tour, which kicked off last Thursday.

Maxwell proves that he is better than your faves on VH1’s ‘Storytellers’

By reading the post, I assume that you’ve all realised that I am a Maxwell stan.

The King of R&B/Neo-soul sang his way into the hearts of the audience on VH1’s ‘storytellers’, which took place at the Metropolis studio in New York City. The crooner performed songs from his discography as well as the latest material from the best R&B album of last year, ‘BLACKsummers’ Night’, which sold over a million copies, received universal acclaim by critics and appeared on many end-of-year lists, all after being on a decade hiatus while others flop after two to four years of having a “break”.

You can check Maxwell perform below and watch how he melts the hearts of many and soothes the audibility of many while your faves stay sounding like nails being dragged down a blackboard and start sliding down the list of relevancy.

Chris Brown and Justin Bieber premieres apocalyptic ‘Next 2 You’ music video

Chris Brown has been grinding hard with his new album, ‘F.A.M.E’. The next single, ‘Next 2 You’ featuring Justin Bieber, premiered recently.

Set during the apocalypse, the Collin Tilley-clip begins with the two heartthrobs caressing their loved ones, before Justin’s girlfriend’s father fetches her, commanding that the two shall never see eye-to-eye again. Not to long after that, Chris rushes to the window, only to experience a car exploding and face terror that lurks outside in the form of an apocalypse.

The sky begins to darken, buildings start to crumble to the ground and people start running for their lives. It’s not long before Chris runs outside and hunts his girl down, however failing to stop what would happen next; Justin’s girlfriend’s dad knocks into her, leaving her immobilized and unable to escape death. Time stops for a heart-throbbing moment before Chris decides to jump to the other side of the ground to save her, leading to his ultimate demise. We see a few African-like dance moves done by Chris and some Sangomas after this scene and discover that Justin rekindles with his girl, before the video ends.

The video was a great watch and definitely backed up by a big budget, since the label obviously knows that this song will be a huge hit. However, it was a little over-the-top with the storyline but I understood what Collin was trying to accomplish. I just can’t help but think about Britney Spears’ ‘Till The World Ends’ video, only her video was much better and brought the song to life, resulting in me constantly playing the song and becoming one of my most-played songs ever, and also causing a resurgence in sales.

You can watch the Britney-inspired video below.

Rihanna is about to get louder with 'Loud' re-release

Singles queen Rihanna has confirmed via twitter that her single-hungry Navy will not be blessed with another new album, as mistakenly confirmed by radio personality Ryan Seacrest. Instead, the ‘Loud’ era will continue to channel out more hits, as it is speculated that Rihanna is about to re-release her ‘Loud’ album. “The #LOUDera continues with more new music to add to ur collection!!!” tweeted an enthusiastic Rihanna.

The ‘Loud’ era has been absolutely successful. Not only has the album produced three number one singles for Rihanna, resulting in another number one for Britney Spears, but it has also sold over 4.5 million copies worldwide. There is nothing wrong with Rihanna continuing to churn out all of these singles, especially if the music is good. Although ‘Loud’ does not beat ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ and ‘Rated R’ in terms of consistency and quality, it is still a craft of dance/electro-pop jams with a mixture of reggae and R&B/hip-hop elements. Lets hope that Hihtanna can continue to impress us with her fantastic pop gems.

Ryan Reynolds speaks to Digital Spy about “Green Lantern”

Canadian super star Ryan Reynolds sits down with Digital Spy to chat about “Green Lantern, the next big summer smash that will probably snatch Thor’s wig off and produce a substantial amount of revenue!

The star speaks about rocking an imaginary green suit as well as fighting thin air.

Judging by the clips that we’ve seen, we know that this movie will be as defining as “Spiderman” and “Transformers”.

“Green Lantern” hits cinemas June 17.
