Newbie Emeli Sandé takes the simple
route in her new video for “Next To Me”, a Motown-inspired track that will
surely chart high in the UK
The video finds Emeli and a drummer
playing their instruments in a desolate warehouse in the middle of nowhere.
Here and there we see the singer laying on a coach and singing to the camera. A
tad dull and boring but any promotion is great promotion.
I really feel like Emeli Sandé is
the one artist that has the potential to crack the tough American market. Her vocals are imbued
with personality, her songs are adult contemporary while incorporating pop elements, and she excels when it comes to songwriting. By the looks of
things, if the album is as good as the snippets, then I’m proud to say that we’ll
be hearing a lot from this artist.
