Radio rapper Wiz Khalifa is coming for radio airwaves again with his new single "Work Hard Play Hard" off his upcoming album 'O.N.I.F.C.' The single was premiered by Funkmaster Flex.
Produced by Stargate and Benny Blanco, Wiz returns to his faux hip-pop sound to appeal to what's left of his urban fanbase while treating his pop audience. Hard-hitting claps? Check. Hard-hitting bass? Check. Hard-hitting poppy synths? Check. The good thing is that it's more hip-hop than most of his singles. His flow could have been a bit harder, but the hook saves the song.
I can't Wiz seriously. For someone with so much hype behind his name, his music comes off as watered-down hip-pop that is suited for wannabe potheads, who listen to his music just to fit in with the other wannabe potheads. It's a lose-lose situation but I admire him for having a knack for melody, which works its way into your head like an earworm.
