Chris Brown Shows Off "Boy In Detention" Cover Art

Post image for Cover Art: Chris Brown- Boy In Detention
Chris Brown seems to be making use of the mixtape strategy, which is when an artist releases a mixtape, hoping to build the hype surrounding their upcoming album to gain sales.

The singer has revealed the amazing cover art for his “Boy In Detention” mixtape, which will be released August 5.

What do you think about it?

Adele, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne Lined Up To Perform At MTV VMAs

VMA Performers Announced
After proving that the industry is hitting an all-time low with its nomination list, MTV has confirmed a few of the scheduled performers for the VMA Awards, which will take place on August 28 at the Los Angeles Nokia Theatre.

Firstly, my bro Chris Brown will be slaying your faves when he takes the stage. It’s the first prestigious award show that he has attended since the incident with Rihanna. Last time Chris performed was in 2007 with his iconic “Wall To Wall” and “Kiss Kiss” performance.

Adele will also be making her VMA stage debut as she is also set to perform. Her album, “21”, is the best-selling album of 2011 so far and she is nominated for 7 awards. “21” has sold close to 8 million worldwide, which is a blessing for the music industry.

Lil Wayne will also perform a day before the release of his new album. “Tha Carter IV”. The last time he performed was in 2008 when he performed “Got Money”, “A Milli”, and “Don’t Get It”. This should serve as a great promotional tool, as the hype for this project has dropped.

You can check out the rest of the nomination list at MTV.

Rihanna Makes A Cameo in Battleship Preview

Remember that flick that Rihanna was supposed to star in? Well it finally got its first trailer today.

Based on Hasbro’s classic naval combat game, “Battlefield” is directed and produced by Peter Berg and is about our planet fighting against a superior force. The film stars Taylor Kitsch as Lt. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hopper’s fiancĂ©e; Alexander Skarsgard as Hopper’s older brother, Stone, Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson; Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper’s crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and international superstar Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone’s superior (and Sam’s father), Admiral Shane.

In other news, Rihanna’s ‘Glamour’ spread has been released. She also had enough time to have an interview with the magazine, choosing to cover topics such as being a role model, having an extensive sense of style, and how she loves dominant men (like me).

You can check out all the action below the jump

The Weeknd Slays At Toronto Concert

The Weeknd, who is known as the best newcomer of 2011, finally made his live stage debut when he performed at a sold-out concert in Toronto.

The young wig-snatcher performed tracks from his debut mixtape and the best R&B album of 2011, “House Of Balloons”, which left critics and fans creaming their panties. He also performed previously leaked songs “Rolling Stones” and “The Birds (Part One)”, which are better than most of the songs climbing up the charts.

His mentor Drake was also in attendance and later tweeted about how The Weeknd left his wig in tatters, "I am so fuckin proud. You performed magic tonight”.

We all know he did!

Watch after the jump and be prepared to be amazed.

Amy Winehouse Covers NME

It seems like every media outlet will be using Amy Winehouse’s name in order to sell. The latest outlet to pay respect to the great icon is NME magazine, which will showcase pictures of the late singer from the past 27 years.

The news of her passing has still left me heart sore. The singer’s back catalog has also experience a tremendous jump in sales, as her “Back To Black” and “Frank” album have both returned to the Billboard 200. “Black To Black” resurges back into the top ten at #9 with 37,000 with copies sold, while “Frank” enters at #57 with 8,000 copies sold.

This comes off as no surprise, so to those who don’t have her albums I hope that you go out and buy it. You will not be disappointed.

Britney Spears Talks Femme Fatale With MTV

Britney Spears took some time off of her grueling schedule to have a small chat with MTV.

The Saviour of Pop Music spoke about praying before slaying on stage, her excitement of Pauly D joining her tour, and her small break that she might be going on.

She’s giving y’all time before she comes back harder and stronger!

P.S. Does she not look and speak like any normal human being? Britney, I’ve got some questions for that management team of yours…

Rihanna Steams Up 'Glamour' Magazine

Rihanna certainly ain’t giving up on these magazine covers!

I don’t think we can blame her. She is the embodiment of beauty, stye, classiness, fierceness, holiness, wifey material, etc. She also has a very distinctive voice, which she has learnt to control to an extent.

The musical vixen has landed on the cover of ‘Glamour’ magazine. Personally, I don’t really care about the glitz, glamour, and gossip (unless it deals with life-threatening incidents) of any celebrity, but I never complain about hot covers. It just allows me to work with my imagination…

Anyway, I think most fans are anxiously waiting for her next re-release or album. If she continues to create such strong pop songs, who are we to stop her? I find it fascinating that she has more magazine covers than the amount of hits your faves have. You mad?

Rihanna Reveals "Cheers (Drink To That)" Cover

Rihanna has unveiled the single cover for The Runners-produced single, “Cheers (Drink To That)”. The single release was confirmed yesterday over Twitter.

Spotting a white-stripped outfit, Rihanna is seen riding in a car with a cheerful grin plastered on her face. The cover really encaptures the fun-free side of Rihanna, while also displaying the song’s “ready-for-a-weekend-of-partying” vibe.

“Cheers (Drink To That)” will be released to radio August 2, 2011.

Rihanna Confirms "Cheers" As Next "Loud" Single

My wife Rihanna has confirmed that “Cheers (Drink To That)” will be released as the sixth single from her almost five-million selling album, “Loud”.

The amazing news was confirmed in a tweet sent to Perez Hilton, "@PerezHilton hey boo, ur fav song is the brand new #LOUD single "CHEERS" to u being an A&R #RihannaNavy."

The rosey-haired’s single is a great choice, as the song is pop-rock with a pinch of R&B. It also cleverly samples one of my favourite songs of all time, Avril Lavigne’s “I’m With You”.

The song was definitely a contender for sixth single, as “California King Bed” and “Man Down” are slow burners on the chart. I’m still hoping that “California King Bed” becomes a bigger hit in America, as the international success that it’s experiencing is great.

Let’s hope that this song blows up the chart, as it’s one of the stronger tracks on the album and has huge radio potential. I really hope that this is the last single because we want a re-release or a new album!

Listen to Riri’s next hit down below.

Amy Winehouse Has Passed Away...

In what must be the most shocking news of today, Neo-soul artist Amy Winehouse has passed away. The UK singer was only 27 years old.

It was confirmed that the singer was found dead at her North London home this afternoon, but there are no reports on what the cause of the death is. However, most people suspect that it was a drug overdose.

The five-time Grammy winner has been notorious for her history of drug and alcohol abuse. After spending several sessions in rehab, things seemed to look better for the singer and we all thought that her third album would be coming out. This was truly not the case, as the singer relapsed in May and returned back into rehab.

Last month Amy kicked off her European tour, but received a backlash after appearing intoxicated, resulting in the crowd booing her offstage. The tour was then indefinitely cancelled. She was also warned by doctors that if she did not give up on drinking, she would soon meet her demise. Weeks later, it was reported that she passed out after three separate boozing sessions.

Sadly, doctors were right and now we have lost yet another icon. I was not a huge fan, to the extent that I am of Britney or Janet, but I was a fan nevertheless. Her music was truly phenomenal and I was patiently waiting upon her third album.

Ironically, my friend and I were speaking about her, patiently waiting for her details of her next album. My aunty also recently got “Back To Black”, which I had planned on buying years ago but she beat me to it.

I am deeply saddened by this news and I would like to dedicate this day to her. First the incident in Norway, and now this? When will the world start changing? I will not be doing anymore posts for today and will resume posting tomorrow.

I’ll end this post off with one of my favorite songs from “Back To Black”, “Me And Mr Jones”.

R.I.P. Amy Winehouse. God bless your friends and family during this difficult time. 14 September 1983 - 23 July 2011.

Drake Announces Lead Single Of "Take Care"

Drake new album studio
We’ve all been aware of all the singles that Drake has leaked for his fans (“Marvin’s Room", “Dreams Money Can Buy”, and "Trust Issues”), but now the Toronto rapper/singer is ready to release his new single from his second studio album, “Take Care”.

It has been confirmed that "Headlines" will serve as the first single, which Drake promised would arrive in a few weeks earlier this month. According to HipHopDx, the song’s title was hinted in a tweet, which was later revealed by Serm Knight and confirmed by producers Chase N Cashe. Production credits go to frequent collaborators Matthew "Boi-1da" Samuels and Noah "40" Shebib, who have served as producers for the leaked songs.

The rapper, however, expressed his disdain of single tracks to Rolling Stone, "I hate singles,…"With this album, I want to tell a whole story," he adds. "I don't want people to just hear a piece and judge the album on that."

In the interview, which was conducted in Toronto, Drake revealed the title of three songs: "Shot For Me", "Free Spirit", and "The Real Her". The first song “Shot For Me” is described asa marvel of melancholy bravado: He sings "Bitch, I'm the man" in a moan that undercuts the brag, over a beat (courtesy of Shebib) that pairs aching synthesizer notes with an exhilarating barrage of high-hats." The other two songs include "Free Spirit," featuring Rick Ross and the refrain "Tat my name on you so I know it's real," and "The Real Her," which is “a narcotically woozy love song with detuned pianos and a Lil Wayne guest spot.”

Drake had also expressed his desires to collaborate with Abel Tesfaye, a.k.a. the much-buzzed about R&B artist The Weeknd, the incredible DJ Premier, Florence and the Machine's Florence Welch, and the xx's Jamie Smith. "No matter who's on it, it goes through the Drake filter," Shebib says. "He's so hands-on about how everything sounds."

“Take Care” is due October 24, 2011, exactly on Drake’s birthday. You can read the interview over at Rolling Stone. Thanks MTV for the news.

No Doubt And Major Lazer Working Together?

Is the amazing No Doubt working with the amazing Major Lazer?

Well, if this picture is anything to go by, my guess is a definite yes. A photo of the band and duo was posted on No Doubt’s Twitter page on Wednesday night (July 20). Billboard confirms that the dancehall/electro production duo will be contributing to the upcoming No Doubt album, which has no release date yet.

"We're working on 3 different songs tonight [sic] in 3 different rooms in the same studio complex, all at once. Like magic, somehow it works," wrote guitarist Tom Dumont. "@majorlazer in one of those rooms. Cutting drums with Adrian [Young] at the moment."

Along with this news, Dumont was also kind enough to share the title of two songs the group is working on for the follow-up to 2001's "Rock Steady, "We are working on this new song called 'Undercover' and it's trying to break out of it's shell," he wrote on Tuesday, and posted a day later, "Today's track is entitled 'Push and Shove' Wish I could disclose more than a title."

I’m sure many No Doubt fans are rejoicing at this news. Major Lazer, which consists of producers Diplo and Switch, has produced some great songs, such as their club banger “Pon De Floor”, Chris Brown’s “Look At Me Now” and Nicola Roberts’ “Beat Of My Drum” (although the latter two were produced by Diplo). I have “No Doubt” that this will become one of the year’s best albums.

After School Premiere "Wonder Boy" Video

After School Blue Releases MV for "Wonder Boy"
Korean girl band After School Blue unveiled the video for their single “Wonder Boy”.

The girls are all in rooms infiltrated with balloons. They are found singing over their phones in a room full of balloons, as well as dancing in a room full of boys… and balloons. It might sound like a boring video, but their faces are stamped with so much charisma and sass, it’s hard not to like it. Plus, these girls are really hot!

In case the song sounds like Orange Caramel’s “Aing”, it’s because the song was also produced by Jo Young Soo. That does not stop the song from being amazing. With its ABBA-esque production, the fluffy song is packed with cuteness, sass, and emotion, and easily becomes one of the best singles to be released this year. I still don’t understand what the hell they’re saying, besides the “come to me” hook, but I know I love it!

After School Blue and After School Red will both release their debuts singles on July 21. We’re all waiting patiently to see what After School Red is about to unleash.

P.S. Did anyone get the sexual reference around 3:19 when the girls lifted up their pinkies? I laughed myself sick! Who's got a small one?

"The Amazing Spider-Man" Trailer Is Released

“The Amazing Spiderman” trailer has been released.

The movie will star Andrew Garfield as Peter Park and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy! The movie is set to be released on July 3, 2012.

The movie seems to rehash what was in the previous films (spider bite, etc.) but seems much darker. However, the last part was a complete 3-D mess and seems like we’ve seen this movie already. Andrew does, however, seem to look more like Peter Parker than Tobey Maguire. Hollywood, can we have a movie without the 3-D tag?

Watch it below and see if you care.

Trey Songz Finally Venturing Into Acting

Trey Songz
So apparently Trey Songz had the aspiration to star in a movie. Well, that goal is about to be achieved!

Songz has signed to play one of the leads in "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D," the latest reimagining of Tobe Hooper's 1974 horror classic about a group of teens who run into a family of cannibals in Texas.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the R&B singer has landed the main role and boyfriend of previously-cast Alexandra Daddario in the Millennium/Nu Image pic, which will be released on October 5, 2012 by Lionsgate.

Chris Brown Scores Another Acting Gig

That Chris Brown reign is finally starting to let up!

It was recently announced that the singer will star in a new movie! Steve Harvey’s book “Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man” is about to be transformed into a movie. The movie is about four friends who finds their love lives changing as their girlfriends start reading and taking advice from Harvey’s book. The minute these friends find out what has changed their girlfriends, they take it upon themselves to adapt to the book’s teachings.

Sounds like an interesting film!

Steve Harvey has also spoken about the book, Men are not bad people. But women think we're bad because they don't get us at all. We're very, very simple. We all think alike. We all basically think alike when it comes down to commitment, love, relationships, money, sex, whatever it is. We all about basically think the same."

Paramore's New Video Is A "Monster"

Paramore's Hayley Williams in their "Monster" video
After the Farro brothers drama that surrounded Paramore, many fans questioned whether Paramore would be able to fend off the drama, move on, and remain successful; or fall into oblivion like a lot of bands.

Well, to be honest, they’ve just proven to us that they are here to stay! I might sound rude, but, although the Farro brothers are gone, I love this new Paramore. The departure of the brothers makes this new Paramore’s sound a bit darker and more mature. The newly-debuted Paramore premiered the video for their “Monster” single, which, like the title, is a monster! I’ve had this song playing on my phone ever since I got it!

Example Releases "Stay Awake" Video

British artist Example premiered the latest video for his new single “Stay Awake”. I’ve never heard about him, but I’ve done some research on him.

The rapper has released two albums so far, with one pending. The first one was a commercial disappointment, while his sophomore was much more successful, selling 60,000 copies (which is quite good for a UK act). He released his first single “Changed The Way You Kissed Me” off of his third upcoming album, “Playing In The Shadows”, which hit #1 in the UK, selling 115,000 copies it’s first week. The single has sold 350,824 copies so far.

Jason Derulo featured in Vanity Fair

Jason Derulo has started with his promotion!

The singer recently scored a feature in Vanity Fair magazine, which has a short paragraph of him talking about his music and what he is capable of doing.

“Ah, I’m still growing”, he says. “Knowing music, knowing the keys, the quarter notes, for me that’s important. You can’t rely on other people to know it for you. It’s the same with life. You don’t want to put your success in their hands”.

He also states that he feels most alive on stage: “I love it. The person on stage is still me, just a more flamboyant version. It’s Super Jason, with everything enhanced”.

The singer also released a picture of him on set of his latest video, “It Girl”, which will be directed by director of the moment Colin Tilley. The video model will be Tika Sumpter and no release date has been confirmed as of yet.

His latest single “Don’t Wanna Go Home” has been my new workout song! It’s already hit #1 in the UK and the top 20 in the U.S. I can’t wait to hear what he has planned, as I enjoyed his debut, albeit he should use less auto-tune.

Pixie Lott pops her goodies in the new "All About Tonight" video

UK star Pixie Lott premiered the video for her single “All About Tonight”, which will serve as the first off of her second album.

Basically, the video just consists of her and her friends dancing in the streets. She’s actually a good dancer, but some moves could have been hit a bit harder. I’m not too fond of the song, as it’s really generic.

Her second album has yet to be titled. You can check the video below.

Demi Lovato releases 'Skyscrapper" video

My wife Demi Lovato premiered the video for her new single “Skyscraper”, which caused it to start trending on Twitter once the song was released. The single has so far flown to the top of the iTunes chart and will likely have a hefty debut on the charts next week, which is likely due to her stint in rehab

As much as I like the song, I’d rather jump off of a skyscraper than watch the video again. It’s just a bunch of facial shots with her singing her heart out, which kind of makes it dull and uninteresting. It it was not for her beauty, I might have fallen asleep.

Watch the video below.

Jessica Mauboy is "Inescapable" in new video

Australian Hottie Jessica Mauboy premiered the music video for her single “Inescapable”, which serves as the leading single off of her “Get Em Girl’s” re-release. We all know that the album flopped, so this song should once again ignite interest in the singer’s album.

The hard-clapping, lightly-layered synth song serves the singer justice, as it allows her rich vocals to blend in quite well with the track. Visually, the video was low-budgeted, yet she improvised with what she had. It’s just her and her two back up dancers in the video, with a guy strapped to a chair and her singing in an open cage. She seems to have had a blast in the video, so she gets extra points!

You can watch the video of her amazing single below.

Blink-182 Return With "Up All Night"

I'll be honest with you! Although I loved Blink-182, I've never listened to their albums or bought it (give me time to do it). However, I do now a bit about their sound and know that their new album will smash. The duo have decided to come out of their 6-year hiatus and has released their latest single, 'Up All Night' from their upcoming album, "Neighborhoods".

Backed up by striking guitar riffs, the song fuses elements from Angels & Airwaves with their pop-punk sound, starting off with a dark undertone before finally tranforming into the normal pop-punk sound that made them famous. The song then translates back into a darker tone after the song's hook. It's really something special, and polishes their punk sound with a rockier and much more modern sound, and shows that they've also matured lyrically.

Blink-182 was also interviewed and spoke about the upcoming album, which could drop September 27, 2011 alongside their Summer Tour.

On the album & tour: "We didn’t think we were gonna be big," he explained. "We were literally writing songs about each others bodies in a bedroom in San Diego. When we wrote songs about our genitals, we did not think it was really going to be so touching to the masses." [Tom DeLonge]

Reflecting on Early Career: "We’ll release a bunch of music before the tour and we’ll be dropping the album smack bang in the middle of the tour, sometime in September. The name I want really bad I saw on a adult film list at a hotel. Not that I watch them, or have the audacity to read the titles. But I did." [Tom DeLonge]

You can listen to the interview and song below the jump. Props to Gowhere Hip-Hop.

Bruno Mars Covers Billboard Magazine

bruno-mars-cover

Bruno Mars finally lands on the cover of Billboard. Spotted with his gradual gravity-defying hairstyle, the pop hitmaker is interviewd by Billboard and covers a variety of topics, ranging from his record label struggles to finally obtaining astronomical success.

"It's a rare thing that happens," he tells Billboard "especially in this day, where it's real hard to sell albums. I'm traveling to places that I've never even heard of and there are all these people singing the songs back -- and English is not even their first language. It's like, what the hell happened?" Bruno Mars happened to purify our ears with great music!

According to Billboard, his debut album, "Doo-wops & Hooligans" debuted at #3 and has sold almost 1.2 million copies in the U.S. His single, "Just The Way You Are" topped the Billboard Hot 100, selling over 4.5 million. The follow-up single, "Grenade", also topped the charts and sold 4.4. million. The third single,"The Lazy Song", however, peaked at #4 and sold 2 million copies.

However, his success does not end there! His debut album entered the charts at #1 in the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany and Ireland. All three singles have sold a combination of 2.2 million copies in the U.K., while his debut sales stand at 620,000. His album has been certified 14-times platinum and he has sold a collection of 15 million singles worldwide.

Not only is he finding success as an artist, but simultanously obtaining it as a producer as well, namely with The Smeezingtons. This duo has produced hits, such as Cee-Lo Green's "F*ck You" (4.9 million sold), B.O.B featuring Bruno Mars "Nothin' On You" (2.8 million ), Travie McCoy's "Billionaire" featuring Mars (2.9 million), and "Lighters" by Bad Meets Evil featuring Mars (314,000). He also lent a helping hand alongside Philip Lawrence with writing Flo Rida's "Right Round", which peaked at #1 and sold 4.9 million copies.

"He's a quadruple threat," Elektra Records co-president John Janick says. "He's a writer, a producer, an amazing singer and an amazing performer -- on top of that he just has a great personality."

The great thing about Bruno is that you can't put him in a box. That's why I think people are so attracted to him and his music," Atlantic Records chairman/COO Julie Greenwald says. "You can put him with any type of artist from any genre and it will be beautiful. He understands music."

Adele planned on snatching wigs years ago...

Even before she became huge and started leaving our faves to rot and wither away, Adele had already possessed the capability to snatch a freshly-skinned raccoon off of any living human being.

The footage below, which was left to rot in the archieves of Billboard magazine since June 2008, shows Adele pouring her heart and soul out on her single "Chasing Pavements" to Billboard's New York office
staff.

During the video session, she also discussed how she began, starting with Myspace bac in 2004, and how she never even knew about her UK label, XL, before she signed to the label.

"I just used to sing just because I liked it -- I still sing 'cause I like it -- but I never thought it would get me anywhere," she said. "So when XL offered me a record deal, I thought, 'Oh, OK, maybe I can get away with it.'"

Watch Adele show us how it's done below.

Big Sean lands on the cover of TRUE magazine

Hip-Hop sensation Big Sean lands on the latest cover of TRUE magazine.

The rapper is actually doing well for himself. His debut album "Finally Famous" debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 with 87,000 copies sold the first week. It has also been critically appreciated, with a score of 69 on Metacritic. His debut single "My Last' featuring Chris Brown peaked at #30 on the Billboard Hot 100, while second single '"Marvin & Chardonnay" featuring Kanye West and Roscoe Dash is climbing up the charts.
